Lessons from Three Funerals

by heather
In about six weeks we had three funerals. The travel and tears were pretty stressful, but I learned a few things that I wanted to remember and I thought I would share. The first funeral was for my best friend's mother. She died after a ten year battle with malignant melanoma as well as several other health problems. It was a really nice funeral. I hope that someday my funeral is half as peaceful and well-organized. I went in expecting to cry, my best friend had lost her mother and I didn't have the Read more [...]

Secrets to An Argument-Free Marriage

by heather
Recently I discovered that my marriage is more unusual than I thought. I mentioned a very minor thing that happened, to a friend and she said "Wait, you guys didn't have fight over that? I totally would have blown up at my husband over that." Honestly, the thought hadn't occurred to me. "We don't fight." "Really?!" Really. In the ten years that we've been together I can only think of a half dozen actual fights that we've had, and three of those were before we were married. So I've been thinking about Read more [...]

My Family in the Family Proclamation

by heather
The first commandment that God gave to Adam and Eve pertained to their potential for parenthood as husband and wife. We declare that God's commandment for His children to multiply and replenish the earth remains in force. Each is a beloved spirit son or daughter of heavenly parents, and, as such, each has a divine nature and destiny. Parents have a sacred duty to rear their children in love and righteousness,to provide for their physical and spiritual needs,to Read more [...]

Celebrating Family

by heather
I believe in families. I believe that the Lord placed us here on this earth in families to help us learn and grow. The family is a unit that you can rely on to protect the weak and give reprieve to the strong. Everyone needs a family. As my mom always said "Family are the ones who love you even when you are being stupid." Everyone has their moments where they are less than brilliant. Even dysfunctional families can provide love and support.  As a mother it is my greatest responsibility Read more [...]
