I have two full-time jobs. I take care of sick kids and then I take care of my kids. Since I have gone back to work full-time in recent months I'm finding that sometimes my time is more valuable than money. My job as a mom is so important. My kids will never be 2 & 4 again. Now is the time that I need to be with them, to let them know that they are loved and help them to learn so they can grow into strong and productive people. Now is the time to enjoy their discoveries. However, this doesn't Read more [...]

by heather
Announcement: August 11-13th there is a large meteor shower, with the peak being early in the morning of August 13th. If you possibly can, it's a great free activity for you and your family. As comets get closer to the sun they shed ice and dust, and if the earth is traveling through the comet's orbit you get a meteor shower or falling stars. To get the best view of this show, look after 11 pm and get away from city lights if you can. Prepare like you would for a July fireworks display. For more Read more [...]

Jerky Gun Giveaway

by heather
Still on vacation. I miss my house and my reliable high speed internet. Anywho, instead of a real post I'm going to cop out and do a giveaway. And I'm going to giveaway a  Nesco jerky gun because jerky is a must for road trips in our family and having a jerky gun makes it sooooo much easier. (I've done it without and I don't recommend it.)   You don't have to have a dehydrator to make jerky, the gun comes with spices and instructions for making it in the oven, although if you do have a Read more [...]

Giveaway: 101 Things To Do With A Slowcooker

by heather
Years ago I attended a class on crockpots given by my neighbor, Janet Eyring. (She's not my neighbor anymore since I have moved.) She is the one who opened my eyes to what an amazing appliance the crockpot is. I heart my crockpot. (The only difference between a crockpot and a slow cooker is that crockpot is a trademarked name of the Rival brand product.) Recently I realized that May's almost over and I haven't done a giveaway yet. Let's fix that. I'm going to giveaway a copy of 101 Things To Read more [...]

Crafting with a Purpose: The Write It Out Project

by heather
Yesterday I came across a service project that sounded so awesome I committed before I thought whether or not I was getting ahead of myself. The Write It Out Project was started by an Iraqi War widow who wanted to do something to help other military widows out there cope with their loss. So she decided to enlist as many women as she can to make handmade journals for these women. This is such an awesome idea. I am a firm believer that writing is a great way to deal with stress. I was so excited I Read more [...]
