Food Storage Friday: Smokey Beans

These are my new favorite discovery. They are easy, versatile and full of flavor. Seriously, they taste amazing! I would almost say they are life-changing. You get delicious smokey hickory flavor (almost meaty) without all of the sugar of BBQ sauce and keeping it vegan too. We have been eating them 2-3 times per week for more than a month and we’re still not tired of them. I’ve put them in wraps, on salads and in pitas. I’ve used this recipe with garbanzo, pinto and white beans. So far they all work, and they are ridiculously simple to make!

Smokey Beans
Food Storage Ingredients:
1 (14.5) can plain beans, rinsed and drained
2 Tablespoons oil
2 Tablespoons Tamari sauce
1/4 teaspoon liquid smoke (sometimes we double this for a slightly more intense flavor)

1. Cook beans in oil for 5-10 minutes over medium heat (Depending on how crispy you want them). 2. Add Tamari and liquid smoke. Stir in, and cook for 2 more minutes. Enjoy!
