Tips on Freezing Meats

by heather

Properly freezing meats can make the difference between a  delicious convenient meal that saved you time and money or a meal that is dry, tough and something to be endured.  Marinade is your friend. Yesterday I bought some boneless skinless chicken breasts on sale, divided them into plastic freezer bags, added some Italian dressing and lemon pepper (which is also my favorite marinade for fish), and popped them in the freezer for use at a later date. I use this method any time I find meat that I like on sale. Prepared salad dressings make great marinades, as do the packets of dry marinade mix when you can get a good deal on them. 😉 Learn from my experience, do not just put a value pack of meat in the freezer. It will make meal preparation very inconvenient when you have to defrost it. Trust me.
Recently I came across this video from Kraft about buying, storing and freezing meats. I thought it was useful and informative, so here you go. Some of the info I learned from taking cooking classes, but there were a few tips that were totally new to me. Also, Kraft is having a giveaway of $2,500 towards a kitchen remodel that is worth checking out.
